The first “Friends of Vafa in Canada”’ public meeting was held on July 14th, 2019 at the North York Civic Center! A group of Iranian animal lovers and supporters participated in this event and shared their ideas and thoughts.
At this event, Farimah Shaygan, one of FOV’s Board of Directors and the Vafa Animal Shelter Social Media Coordinator, was the host and the key speaker. She mainly talked about the current situation for stray and homeless animals, especially dogs in Iran. The dogs’ population and statistics, problems and challenges, parties involved and their roles to control the situation, the solutions, roles of rescue groups, and shelters, specifically Vafa Animal Shelter were discussed during the first half of the meeting. In the second part of this meeting, Farimah talked about the difficulties Vafa is currently facing due to the sanctions. The last part of this meeting consisted of participants asking questions and sharing their ideas and solutions.
At this meeting, Ms. Soheila Yaghoubie, Vafa’s Foreign Adoption Coordinator, shared Vafa’s newest project which focuses on smaller breeds and finding them forever homes outside of Iran.
Also at this meeting, Mrs. Fatemeh Motamedi, the founder of Vafa shelter, Mrs. Soudabeh Majidi, Mrs. Farah Taheri, and Mrs. Giti Safaee who are all board members of Friends of Vafa, all participated in the question and answer session.
At this meeting, some participants donated towards Vafa Animal Shelter.
The next meeting of this kind will take place in the Fall

نخستین نشست همگانی دوستان وفا در کانادا برگزار شد.

گروه “دوستان وفا در کانادا” در نخستین نشست همگانی خود در چهارده جولای دوهزار و نوزده میزبان گروهی از ایرانیان دوستدار حیوانات در تورنتو بود.

در این نشست که در یکی از سالن‌های مرکز امور شهری نورت‌ یورک برگزار شد، خانم فریماه شایگان از اعضای هیئت مدیره‌ی این گروه به بررسی مسائل و مشکلات کنونی حیوانات بی‌سرپرست به ویژه سگ‌ها در ایران پرداخت. آمار تقریبی سگ‌ها در ایران، مشکلات و معضلات، نقش سازمان‌های مسئول، راهکارها، نقش گروه‌های نجات، پناهگاه‌ها، به ویژه پناهگاه وفا بررسی شد. در بخش بعدی این نشست مشکلات کنونی پناهگاه وفا و تاثیر شرایط کنونی و تحریم‌ها بررسی، و به راه‌های گوناگون اشاره شد. بخش پایانی این نشست، بخش پرسش و پاسخ بود و شنیدن پیشنهاد‌ها و راه‌کارهای شرکت کنندگان.

در این جلسه خانم سهیلا یعقوبی، مسئول واگذاری سگ‌های وفا در خارج از ایران و همچنین عضو هیئت مدیره‌ی گروه ” دوستان وفا در کانادا” به شرح جدیدترین پروژه‌ی این گروه که واگذاری سگ‌های کوچک خانگی در خارج از کشور است، پرداخت.

در این جلسه خانم‌ها فاطمه معتمدی بنیان‌گذار پناهگاه وفا، سودابه مجیدی، فرح طاهری و گیتی صفایی دیگر اعضای هیئت مدیره این گروه نیز شرکت و در پاسخگویی به پرسش‌ها و پیشنهادها همیاری داشتند.

در این نشست همچنين گروهی از شرکت‌کنندگان هدیه‌های خود را به پناهگاه‌ وفا تقدیم کردند.

نشست آینده‌ی همگانی این گروه در پاییز برگزار خواهد شد.
