Sometimes it takes an army to rescue a dog! When Mr. Aslani (a university student) along with his friends saw an addict pulling a dog very aggressively, they did not hesitate to stop him. On that very day, they took the dog to Vafa, where Iva, from India, and her friend, Faranak, happened to be visiting the shelter. Iva and Faranak also did not think twice when they found out that shelter was not able to accept Simba due to overcapacity. So they decided to foster the dog. They took the dog home, and later they named him Simba.
Iva’s uncle, Amir, who is a member of “Friends of Vafa in Canada” shared this story with the group, and only within minutes he was able to collect enough donations from the members of the group to cover Simba’s travel expenses to Canada. After a few months in foster homes, private dog hotel as well as Vafa Shelter, it was finally time for Simba to start his journey. Soheila, Vafa’s Foreign Adoption Coordinator, was visiting her family in Iran, so she was able to accompany Simba to Toronto.
It was a stormy snowy night when Simba arrived. A big team of volunteers were planning to welcome Simba at the airport, but due to severe weather, only Farimah and Amir went to the airport to welcome Simba.
Simba was sent to Bark & Meows to get ready for adoption. With their hard work, Simba was adopted a couple of weeks ago! He now lives with Nichole, and they love each other. Like we said, sometimes it takes an army to rescue a dog! Didn’t we?
