Fariba Fard’s annual fundraising gathering for VafaIt has been three years in a row that Fariba has invited Vafa Animal Shelter’s friends and supporters in Toronto area to her home for a fundraising event, a vegetarian pot-luck. In this lovely party animal lovers had an opportunity to get to know each other, share their passion for animals and also to help Vafa by their donations.On Sunday, December 03, 2017, nearly 40 people attended the party. Fariba and her lovely husband did an amazing job hosting the event. The lunch table was full of home-made Persian food that everybody enjoyed.
After lunch, Farimah, one of Vafa’s volunteers, talked about shelter’s current situation, Vafa’s short term and long term plans, shelter’s needs and also ways people can help to make these plans possible. She mentioned that Vafa’s sponsors and volunteers are the most valuable part of Vafa. Farimah called “Friends of Vafa in Canada” the backbone of Vafa.
Soheila, Vafa’s Foreign Adoption Co-ordinator, was also on hand to give a report about Vafa’s dogs who live outside of Iran. She talked about different ways that people can help with this program. She reminded everybody that the need for volunteer travelers is an ongoing issue, and shelter relies on them for finding its residents a forever home out side of Iran. Fereshteh (Motamedi), founder of the Vafa, thanked the host for her hospitality and all the guests for attending the event and for their support. She also introduced a new project; making toys from old t-shirts for the dogs living at the shelter. A good number of people volunteered to help with this fun project.
Fariba Fard Thanked everyone and advised that everyone should step up and not to be embarrassed to ask others to help Vafa, because this is for the sake of dogs.
During the party, a beautiful slideshow was played showing day to day life at Vafa and photos of our fury angles at the shelter. In this gathering, Farnoosh, one of Vafa’s artists, presented one of her beautiful paintings to the host, Fariba. Many thanks to our beloved hosts, Fariba Fard, and her family!
میهمانی سالانه فریبا فرد و جمع آوری کمک مالی برای وفا
سومین بار بود که دوستان وفا در خانه ی فریبا فرد جمع می شدند تا ضمن آشنایی و گپ و گفت با یکدیگر، با غذاهای خوشمزه گیاهی از خودشان پذیرایی کنند و با پرداخت ورودیه و همینطور کمک مالی مبلغی را جمع آوری کنند و به پناهگاه های وفا در ایران اهدا کنند.
فریبا فرد و همسر گرامی اش این مهمانی را دیگر به یک رسم سالانه برای کمک به وفا تبدیل کرده اند. یکشنبه سوم دسامبر 2017 نزدیک به چهل نفر در این میهمانی حضور یافتند. غذاها مثل همیشه بسیار متنوع بود. شیرین پلو، پلو خورش فسنجان، لوبیا پلو، آش جو و رشته، کوکو سبزی و سیب زمینی، کشک بادمجان، سالاد ماکارونی، کوفته شیرازی، سالاد، دسر، کیک، نوشیدنی و …
پس از ناهار، فریماه از داوطلب‌های وفا به بررسی مشکلات، نیازها، برنامه‌های کوتاه‌مدت و دراز مدت وفا پرداخت و راه‌های کمک به این سازمان را بررسی کرد. او مردم را بزرگترین پشتیبان و داوطلب‌های وفا را با ارزشترین سرمایه ی وفا خواند. داشتن پناهگاهی دیگر که کار شعبه ی سوم وفا را بکند و بتواند سگ‌های بیشتری را کمک رسانی کند، هدفی ست که تنها با سرمایه گذاری حامیان حقیقی حیوانات امکان پذیر است. فریماه همچنین از فعالیت های دوستان وفا در کانادا گفت و این گروه را ستون فقرات وفا دانست.
سهیلا مسئول واگذاری سگ‌های وفا در خارج از ایران گزارش کوتاهی به مهمانان داد و راه‌های کمک به این بخش را شرح داد. او نیاز وفا به مسافر را نیازی همیشگی دانست.
فاطمه ـ فرشته ـ معتمدی(بانی و مؤسس وفا) نیز ضمن سپاسگزاری از میزبان و مهمانان توضیحاتی درباره ی وفا و شرایط کنونی آن داد.و اما میزبان خوشروی ما هم از همه ی مهمانان برای آمدن و همکاریشان تشکر کرد و یادآور شد که اگر چه کمک خواستن از دیگران دشوار هست، اما وقتی برای کمک به سازمانی چون وفا باشد، آسان می‌‌شود.مجموعه‌ای از عکس های پناهگاه به شکل اسلاید شو، حال و هوای دیگری به این مهمانی داده بود.فرنوش، یکی از هنرمندان وفا، تابلوی زیبایی از کارهای خودش را به میزبان، فریبا، هدیه کرد. این روز با عکس های یادگاری
